Consultations (How They Work and What to Expect)
Unlike a face-to-face appointment, my dog nutrition consultations are carried out online. This approach is a little different to what you may be used to with your vet, but the consultation itself runs in much the same way. To clarify the process, I’ve outlined the steps below and how we’ll work together to support your dog’s diet and overall health. At the end, you’ll also find answers to some of the most common questions I’m asked, so you know exactly what to expect before booking.
Step 1: Learning about you & your dog
When you book your dog’s nutrition consultation, the first thing you’ll receive is a detailed intake form to complete and return to me. This covers your dog’s medical and diet history, your dog’s lifestyle and food preferences, current health, and any concerns as well as goals you may have. As part of gathering as much information as possible about your dog, I may also ask for the veterinary history, test results, and other records.
Step 2: Formulating the diet
Having all the necessary information about your companion helps me tailor the diet specifically to their individual needs. Holistic health and nutrition looks to build a foundation of health to build upon, focusing on: the whole dog — inside and out, and their unique individual constitution, gut health and the microbiome, Inflammation triggers, nutrition deficiencies and whole food balance, and meeting mental, environmental, physical, and breed specific needs.
Step 3: What you’ll receive
The consultation includes two tailored feeding model recipes with a full nutritional breakdown, guidance on transitioning your dog, and practical FAQs such as ingredient substitutions, herbal support, and supplement advice. I will also outline the nutritional goals of the recipe and why those features are appropriate for your dog.
Step 4: Implementing your dog’s new diet
Once you have received the recipe, you can send any questions about it, then begin to implement it and monitor how your dog responds to it. Transition and adjustment periods vary, but you may reach out to me during this time with any questions or concerns. For dogs with specific health issues, I may also ask for updates on test results if necessary(e.g. urine pH, blood work etc).
Step 5: Follow-up support
Your consultation includes a follow-up, covering email support after the transitional period has ended, and the dog has settled into their new diet. If there are any necessary diet revisions, questions about supplements, adding variety, sourcing, etc we will cover that in the follow up. However, if your dog needs a little extra support after this period, you can purchase additional follow up time.
Comprehensive Ingredient Analysis (For Currently Raw/Whole Food Fed Dogs):
Submit your dog’s current diet and supplement details, including ingredient labels and feeding amounts, for an in-depth review. Include what feeding model you are using, all supplements, and add ons that are being given.
Personalized Written Report:
Receive a detailed email evaluation covering:
Ingredient Quality: Identification of potential allergens, fillers, or harmful additives.
Nutrient Balance: Assessment of whether your dog's diet meets its nutritional needs or if adjustments are required.
Supplement Effectiveness: Evaluation of current supplements to determine if they’re beneficial or if replacements should be considered.
Recommended Adjustments: Suggestions for higher-quality ingredients, improved supplement choices, or the incorporation of fresh food additions to optimize the diet.
Follow-Up Email Support (4 Emails):
Get answers to up to follow-up questions within 30 days for additional clarity and support. Optimally these will be weekly emails as you transition your dog to the new diet. Utilizing my weekly health journal you can take notes of activity levels, any food likes/dislikes, etc. and discuss them with me in the follow up emails.
